The Next Big Thing hop

A fellow Ravencraft Romance Realm author, Sandra Jones, tagged me in The Next Big Thing blog hop.  She asked that I answer a few questions about the book I'm currently working on.  What better thing to do than get to talk about Aumelan!  I love Aumelan and happily accepted.

My next task was to tag authors to keep the hop going around the web so that everyone can read about The Next Big Thing.  I listed them below.  They’ll post next week on January 2nd.

So, on to my portion of the hop!

 ~ * ~

What is your working title of your book?

Aumelan is the title and if I have anything to do with it, will stay that way. Lol.

Where did the idea come from for the book?

So many of my stories come from dreams I’ve had, Aumelan is no different.  But this series is the oldest one I've had.  I actually dreamed about these characters that lived beneath the rock with special needs way back in my youth.  I would write little clips, like short stories about them, expounding on their personalities and world.  I’ve known them for a long, long time.

What genre does your book fall under?

This book would be classified as a Sci-fi/Fantasy with strong romantic elements.  A new world, yet filled with the struggles of basic human needs and complex moral situations.  A Keeper should never fall in love with his server, but Chad just knows she would accept him if there was no law prohibiting it.  Salana thinks so too.  That is until she talks with Dee and finds she's the stronger believer in placement than any of them.  One can try, though, right?  It's plain to see she harbors feelings for him...

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
Chad - Chris Zylka
Salana - Sasha Pieterse

This was really hard.  Lol.
But I think I got them pretty close...

Dee - Lucy Hale

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

A story of love, devotion, and courage, Aumelan introduces us to a world where hearts and souls unite to create a world where freedom is a gift for all and love between two peoples is possible.

Will your book be self-published or published by an agency?

I will be searching for an agent to represent Aumelan as soon as it is polished.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
This book, or series, poured from me when I decided to write the whole story.  I began in August 2009 and had the equivalent of four books written by November that year.  That’s when I realized I needed to really look into what it takes to make a book right for publication.  Revising this book has been a long process.

Who or what inspired you to write this book?

The characters, who had gone silent over the years, began having conversations in my mind.  They were so vivid, I had to write them down.  I didn’t stop.

What else about your book might pique the reader's interest?

Freedom is a gift, but a luxury not all possess.  How far should one go to secure life when it hangs in the balance every few days?  Breach another’s freewill?  How far should an ally go to help both peoples affected by such a plight?

When Salana meets Chad, she’s faced with the unbelievable, a man who must take energy from a host to survive.  But he’s not the only one; the entire Tsosey Nation is plagued with this unusual need, the strong yet meek Chamber people having submitted to serve them through the centuries.

Chad’s desire to find answers to his people’s inability to produce life-sustaining energy brings him out of the vast caverns of the World Beneath the Rock to the World of the Sun.  Amazing truths unfold, but are the Tsosey and Chamber people ready to accept what those truths hold?  And are the People of the Sun willing to accept their choices?

I've tagged my good friends to continue this hop...

J.D. Brown - J.D. loves paranormal characters; from vampires and werewolves, demons and angels, to witches and ghost. Her writings are often a combination of suspense and romance.

Ruth Hartman - Dental Hygienist turned writer, Ruth has several titles to her name.  Her question of "What if" continues to be answered with each publication.

Dawn Colclasure - She has a variety of interests. Her experiences with ghosts and hauntings produced an interest in the paranormal, and a dream experience that she had which lasted for several years is what created an interest in dream analysis and symbolism.

Rebecka Vigus is someone who has always known she’d be a writer. Her works include poetry, song lyrics, self-help, and fiction. And I’d love to use her quote, “We are closer to insanity than we know, sometimes.”

Check them out next week (1/2). Stop by and show them some love!

Until next time, may your dreams be magical.
