April A-Z E is Easter Egg Chickadees

E is for Easter Egg

That’s right.  Easter eggs.  I don’t know when, why, or how an egg became an Easter tradition, but it’s one of my family’s favorites.

When my girls were young, we’d all gather at Nannie’s (actually their great-aunt) house and every year add to the hundreds of plastic Easter eggs she’d collected and saved.  We, the parents and older children, would sit in the living room and fill all these hollow things with candy, pennies, little pieces of paper with numbers on them for the prize drawings later, and then the next morning Nannie and her son would go out and hide every one of them.  Now, when I say hundreds, I DO mean hundreds.  By the time we stopped meeting each year, we had in the area of eight hundred.  The Easter baskets were half the size of my girls back then to hold all the ones they found.

It’s one of their favorite childhood memories and I’m so thankful Nannie took the time and effort each year to make it special.

So for the A-Z Challenge for the letter E, I want to share a little fun idea for your Easter eggs.

Instead of ordinary deviled eggs, make them into cute little chickadees.  Simply cut your boiled eggs near the narrow top, add your favorite deviled recipe, and use olive bits for eyes and carrot slivers for a beak.  Adorable!

And I can't resist sharing this...

Once the winners are chosen, I will notify them and contact the respective authors.  Your email will only be shared with the authors to allow them to send you your prize.  Each author generously provided their work for you to enjoy.  I do not own these books.

On that note, I'd like to thank each of the authors that donated titles for this contest.  Without you, I couldn't have offered such a wonderful giveaway!

Until next time, may your dreams be magical.
